My supervision approach

I aim to provide supervision that is collaborative, practical and reflective, and can be adapted to the experience level and goals of the psychologist.

What guides it

I draw on my knowledge of trauma informed, culturally responsive and diversity affirming practice and principles of CBT, ACT, DBT and EMDR to guide my supervision work.

Supervision may cover

Clinical formulation and treatment planning Therapeutic skills Complex presentations Trauma-informed practice and trauma focused interventions Cultural and systemic considerations Ethical decision-making Boundaries and sustainable practice Vicarious trauma and burnout

Trauma, systems and sustainable practice

I have a particular interest in supporting clinicians working with trauma, refugees and asylum seekers, human rights issues and other forms of complex social injustice.

The context, not just the case

This work can involve difficult systems and emotionally demanding material. Supervision provides an opportunity to consider not only the client and the clinical work, but also the broader context and the impact of the work on the clinician.

Sustainable practice

I believe sustainable practice is about more than individual self-care. It also involves boundaries, workload, organisational context, professional identity and having space to think.
