A small group seated in a circle during a facilitated session

Over time, having worked alongside a range of other professionals (lawyers, caseworkers, other health professionals) to collaborate in the care of mutual clients, I have seen first hand the potential impacts of working in the trauma field on all professionals, not only psychologists.

Why I expanded this service

This motivated my to expand my supervision services to organisations and companies who have staff at risk of vicarious trauma, moral injury and burnout, with the aim of providing a reflective and informative space for staff to learn about, discuss, prevent and manage the aforementioned potential workplace stress outcomes.

Why the group format

These supervision services are generally conducted in a group format, where participants come together in collective care to share and discuss concerns that likely overlap for multiple staff, and benefit not only from my clinical knowledge but also from the normalisation and acknowledgement of other group members.

How group supervision works

Group supervision is a semi structured, facilitated space where teams who work with trauma survivors and/or within systems of injustice can come together to reflect on their work and support one another.

How sessions run

Group supervision is interactive and participants are invited to contribute and share throughout sessions in a way that feels comfortable for them.

What it attends to

Group supervision attends to the whole experience of your work – including the emotional impact, ethical dilemmas, power and systemic dynamics and the cumulative effects of bearing witness to suffering and injustice.

What it provides

It provides a psychologically safe environment in which colleagues can have space to understand their experiences, reconnect with their professional values and develop strategies to sustain themselves in their work.

Areas I cover

Understanding and preventing vicarious trauma, burn out and moral injury Acknowledging and managing the impact of systems of injustice on staff morale and client outcomes Trauma informed practice General wellbeing and self-care maintenance Working effectively with individuals seeking asylum and those from refugee backgrounds

I offer group supervision in person at companies and organisations around Melbourne, and online around Australia.

Fees and payment

Fees vary based on group size, session duration and location. I try to be flexible with pricing for NGOs - get in touch with what your team needs and I will provide a quote.

Frequently asked questions

We are a small organisation with a tight budget. Is group supervision worth it?+

Budget is the usual barrier for NGOs, which is why frequency is flexible: monthly, six-weekly or quarterly group sessions, with individual sessions available when someone is working through especially heavy content. Group format spreads the cost across the team, and I try to be flexible with pricing for NGOs.

Which sectors do you work with?+

Any organisations or companies with staff at risk of vicarious trauma, burnout or moral injury. This may include human rights, criminal law and forensics, media and journalism, education, health care and the refugee and asylum seeker sector. Please reach out if you are unsure.

Is it delivered online or in person?+

I offer group supervision in person at companies and organisations around Melbourne, and online anywhere in Australia.

Can it be combined with training?+

Yes. Group supervision can be combined with training for the wider team - see the training page for the programs available.
